My mother got up and got herself ready for the day every morning. She always put on clean clothes, did her hair, and did her makeup. She encouraged me to do the same, even if I knew the day was going to be filled with dirt, sweat, or tears.
On the flip side, I have often felt that my beauty came from the inside out, so I'm quite comfortable in my own, un-made-up skin. I have no problem going to the store without makeup.
Still, I've tried to get ready for every day, including most school days from the time I started wearing makeup, and DEFINITELY for every work day.
Today I came to work without makeup for the second time in my life. Funny thing is someone told me I looked really pretty. Ha. That's a laugh. It's kind of them to say, but even I cringe when I look in the mirror. :)
My mother would be appalled. I was just glad to get here this morning.

What Is Wrong With This Picture?
NOTHING! It is gloriously beautiful. This is the kind of soft, welcoming snow storm that makes you want to curl up with a cup of hot chocolate and a favorite book, which you won't actually read because you'll be gazing out the window watching the fat flakes coming to rest on a tree limb, where they are going to stick and turn your whole world into marshmallows.
There is nothing wrong with this picture. It's a lovely picture.
The error is with the date. It is April 9th.
One of these things just doesn't belong here.

There is BEAUTIFUL all around
My beautiful friend, Amy, talked me into trying a beautiful blog of my own. She thought it would be a beautiful thing. No pressure, of course.
With Amy, everything is beautiful and she loves it! I LOVE that about her. I often ask Amy, "What DON'T you love?" So far she's only come up with two things, and one was fortune cookies that don't give you a fortune. (She's right!)
Let's hear it, then. What DON'T you love?
