In a Dark Mood Today

My boss gave me two large bags of M&M's for my birthday.  The first bag contains my favorite candy in the entire world:

The second bag looks like this:
I do like dark chocolate.  But if I'm choose M's, I almost always go for my favorites.  Why mess with a good thing, right?

Except today I thought dark chocolate sounded good.  And guess what?  I was right!

I also had a fabulous idea!  I like semi-sweet (not milk) chocolate chips in my cookies.  I bet these little babies would make excellent M&M cookies!  Mmmmm...

M Sense

Spencer had a dentist appointment before work this morning, so he left very early. He kissed my cheek and wished me a happy anniversary.

When my alarm went off, I rolled over to turn it off, and I rolled onto something on Spencer's side of the bed. I instantly recognized the sound and the feel of a large bag of M&M's.

Pathetic? Maybe.

But it was a SWEET way to start the day! :)

My favorite T-shirt

I personally keep M&M/Mars in business. Really.

A few years ago I saw a T-shirt in the mall that I still beat myself up for NOT buying. It said:

Wheat for Man.--D&C 89:17
Chocolate for Woman.--M&M 24:7

Today Spencer sent me this. He was in an extremely interesting WebEx meeting at the time:

M&M's, one of the most popular candies in the United States, were originally an import from England called Smarties. Forrest Mars Sr. saw soldiers during the Spanish Civil War eating chocolate pellets that were coated in sugar to prevent chocolate from sticking to their fingers.
After the rights were purchased by Americans Forrest Mars Sr. and R. Bruce Murrie in 1939, they had to reintroduce them to the domestic market with a different name because there was already a candy product sold in the U.S. under the name Smarties. To identify their new brand, they combined the first initials of their last names: M & M. M&M's were first sold in the United States in 1941. By World War II, American soldiers were given the candy by the United States Army because they were a convenient snack that traveled well in any climate; soon after this it was marketed to the public. M&M's soon became a hit because, in those times when air conditioning was not usually found in stores, homes, or the automobile, melting chocolate candy bars were a problem; but with M&M's, the candy's coating kept the chocolate from getting messy.

Bottom line: Who cares? Just keep 'em coming!

Nothing is good after 15 minutes. Except M&M's

I had a meeting today that went WAY longer than it needed to. One person in particular took up a full half hour. Ugh.

This experience has led me to consider what--if anything--is worth staying longer than 15 minutes for. Seriously.

Most sporting events are divided into 15 minute (or shorter) periods.

I can shower AND shave in 10. My hair takes longer, but I don't think it's worth the wait.

The prophet only speaks about our eternal salvation for 20 minutes at a time. That's worth staying for.

Dinner is worth staying for. Especially if there's dessert.

Sharing Time lasts 20 minutes max. I hope that's worth staying for, but some days--I will admit--it's just not worth it. For me or for the kids.

Space Mountain is worth the wait. The Matterhorn definitely is not.

Nothing at any store is worth that kind of wait. Especially on Black Friday.

Olive Garden is worth the wait. That might be the only restaurant worth waiting for (for me).

The temple is worth the wait.

Any vacation is worth waiting for. I will wait a half hour or more for a good play or concert--but then I can usually break it up with good conversation and a snack!

Maybe I should have brought M&M's to the meeting today...
