If I were super-entertaining I would have something profound to tell you about Harry Potter 7--part 2, to which I have been looking forward for MONTHS. Yes, we saw the midnight showing. Yes, I LOVED it and found it incredibly satisfying. Also, Alan Rickman is GENIUS!!!
3:00 a.m. bedtime is not so satisfying.
I was the first one on a very stinky elevator as I went down to get some lunch. As each person got on I wanted to scream, "It smelled this way when I got on!"
If you get the chance to go to the COB cafeteria for lunch sometime, let me recommend the ginger snaps. I love them. And if you don't get one for yourself, I hope you will at least think of me.
Taylor received his Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor last night. Many, many thanks to the Giffords and the Spencer 5th ward for hosting something so wonderful. I love you, Sami! Just sayin'...
My awesome brother, Derek, presented Taylor and Logan's Eagle awards to them, and that made me remember that I completely spaced HIS Court of Honor over 20 years ago. Luckily for me, I have gotten to see firsthand the marvelous man that he has become. It is an honor to be his sister.
And it is an honor to be Taylor's mother. He is a fine, fine man, as is his friend, Logan, who I have loved since he was about 4 years old. Congratulations to both of you!
New bifocals arrived yesterday. I feel like a dork, swiveling my head all around to try to find the best place through which to focus. I tried the no-line bifocals for a day and ended up with a screaming headache, so I went to the lined lenses. Something about the lines equates with "old" in my head. Eh, well. So be it.
Flex spending is a God-send.

Memories: Inspired By Ann
On the first day of 4th grade, I got sick. It wasn't cool, because the first day of 4th grade also happened to be the first day in a new school. When I came to school on Day Two of 4th grade, I was assigned to a new class. I had gone to the school to find the original classroom. Now--just one day later--I had a new teacher in a different part of the school, and I had a hard time finding my class. Therefore, absent on Day One; tardy on Day Two. Day One + Day Two = Tears.
But that's not what I wanted to tell you about.
On Day One (you remember, I was sick), Mom took me to the doctor. She had seen Dr. Ely before, but that's the first time I remember seeing him. He was a loving, gentle man. He gave me kisses. Which a doctor could never do now. But he was just a sweet, kind man, and I believe he loved his job.
Anyway, Dr. Ely looked me over. As part of the general examination he checked my eyes, and guess what? Not only was I sick, I was blind! Sick + Blind = Tears.
Mom and I did not pass go, and we did not collect $200. We went straight to the eye doctor and then straight to the department to order glasses. Which was not cool. Because what 4th grader wants to wear glasses? 4th grade + Eyeglasses = Tears.
Two. Weeks. later, I had new glasses. Which I was dreading. For two weeks. (Modern-day miracle: 60-minute eyeglasses!)
But they put those hateful specs on my face, and I learned that there were individual bricks on the buildings, there were individual leaves on the trees, and it was really possible to read the street and restaurant signs on the way home!
Oh, lovely, beautiful spectacles!
I never washed my glasses. I hated the way there was a glare when they were clean. When they would get particularly bad, my mom would lick her index and middle fingers, hold them up like a number 2, and smudge them down my glasses (one finger for each lens).
Ann's grandma just cleaned her glasses for her. My mom licked mine. But both are sweet memories.
Funny how life is...
That was her way of MAKING me clean my glasses. I hated it when she did that!

Can You Buy a Warranty Against the Dog?
Landon left his glasses on the deck. I don't know why. I can't figure out how he managed to play a game of lacrosse without his glasses on his face.
Nevertheless, this morning, the glasses were on the deck. Next to the Frisbee.
Until it was WAY PAST time for him to leave for school. He had no idea where the glasses were. And then I had no idea where the glasses were. He said they weren't in his room. I found they weren't on the deck.
Don't worry we found them.
In three pieces (that we found so far).
With incriminating teeth marks on them.
Question of the day: Should I be angry with Landon? Or Bella?
