The Kiss of Death

There are many meetings with which to fill a day.  The day will be busy.  We might have short breaks to work on projects, but then another meeting will happen.

And then he does it.  The Boss says, "This meeting will be short."  And JUST. LIKE. THAT. there are no more short breaks.  Because that meeting that was going to be short lengthened substantially, and now the next meeting is delayed.  And the next.  And the next.

Why does he do that?  It happens every. time.
